Global Event: 2nd NEXT Summit focusing on optimal practices to be held in Hangzhou
WELLINGTON, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) — The 2nd NEXT Summit (Hangzhou 2018) will focus on optimal practices among some 500 delegates from New Zealand, China and across the globe, a release said here on Monday.
The organizing committee from three institutions has set November 22 and 23 as the date for the occasion, of which participants seek a new pathway for global cooperation, right in the heels of first China International Import Expo in Shanghai in the same month.
The Summit in Hangzhou of east China’s Zhejiang province will see experts of various fields and representatives of enterprises across all spectrums from New Zealand and China and many others engage in treasure hunting among 60 case studies in five areas.
The summit is jointly hosted by China Economic Information Service (CEIS), Zhejiang University (ZJU) and the Oceania Silk Road Network (OSRN).
New Zealand always advocates multilateral cooperation, Peter Goodfellow, President of the New Zealand National Party and OSRN’s honorary chairman, said in the statement.
It is in accordance with the interests of all parties to build a cross-continental, all-industry, efficient and pragmatic international cooperation platform with the Summit as a medium, Goodfellow said, adding the platform will combine political, business and academic circles to explore and improve the new concepts, thoughts and mechanisms of international cooperation.
OSRN Chairman Dr. Yang Jian, an New Zealand MP, said the 2018 Hangzhou Summit will invite the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon as a guest of honor.
The Summit will discuss regional collaboration on global governance, innovation-driven economic growth, green development, conservation culture, inclusive cultural diversity. The Summit will focus on five industry areas: public service, energy and infrastructure; robot, artificial intelligence and blockchain; food, health and husbandry; education, tourism and cultural creativity, and; Innovation and transformation of scientific & technological research.
The inaugural NEXT Summit was held in November last year in Auckland under the theme of innovation, cooperation, and development, to which United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sent a congratulatory message. Enditem
