The international community must redouble efforts to forge guiding multilateral solutions to cope with the great challenges that people face today, said Ban Ki-moon, the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) and also chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia, at the summit.
“Such challenges are inherently global. As such, sustainable solutions to them must be born out through multilateral cooperation and synergized by partnership. And this is particularly true in today’s era of increasing nationalism and populism,” said Ban in his keynote speech at the summit.

Under the current international situation, the BRI undoubtedly plays the role as a stabilizer for the world’s economy and also plays an important role in promoting the world’s economic growth and the realization of the UN sustainable development goals, according to Wu Hongbo, China’s special representative for European affairs.
